Beatrix Potter farmed and wrote from Hill Top, forty years later, in a completely different literary tradition. All Creatures Great and Small is set not in the Lake District at all, but in the Yorkshire Dales. And Brontë Country — the Haworth moors that shaped Wuthering Heights — is a different county again, reached from here through three counties in one day.

Not on a scheduled tour — each has its own dedicated half-day itinerary so neither feels rushed. On a private or bespoke day we can combine elements of both if that's genuinely what you want, though most guests find one theme is plenty for a single day.
No — the show is filmed in the Yorkshire Dales, primarily around Grassington and the surrounding villages, standing in for 1930s Yorkshire. Our All Creatures tour travels into the Dales rather than staying in the Lake District.
No. Our guides give you the story either way, and most guests say the landscape means more once they've seen it than the books ever did on their own.
Rydal Mount has been temporarily closed since March 2026 for conservation work by the Wordsworth Trust, with no reopening date yet announced. The house and garden can still be seen from the lane, and our tours visit the gates.
